وقالت لوفلوك في تغريدة لها عبر حسابها الشخصي بموقع التواصل الاجتماعي “Twitter”: ” Egyptian officials hope to reach a great level on the international forum, but how it happens at a time when the best minds are forced to leave?”.
She added in another tweet:” I miss a number of friends who have left Egypt, or dream of doing so now, has become increasingly severe restrictions for many people”.
She said: “القمع المصري العميق غير البناء الذي يستهدف الحريات الأكاديمية مستمر. Now the pace is increasing brain drain from Egypt”.
وضربت لوفلوك، التي تعمل أيضا، بصحيفة كريستيان ساينس مونيتور، أمثلة للقيود المفروضة على المفكرين، مثل محاكمة عمرو حمزاوي أستاذ العلوم السياسية بتهمة إهانة القضاء، وكذلك إحالة أوراق الأكاديمي المعروف الدكتور عماد شاهين إلى المفتي.
